BIE101   Introduction to Bioengineering   (20 credits)

Description

This module will introduce the application of engineering principles to biological and medical problems and give the student an appreciation of the breadth of bioengineering and identify to students what knowledge areas and skills are needed in order to contribute to the development of the fast growing field of bioengineering. It will also help create links with students and draw on the other modules that students will take in year 1 (a second 20 credit module in year 2 will have a similar function, building on the skills learnt in the year 1 module and helping integrate between modules which students select in year 2).
